In a small bowl, create a seasoning mixture with the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and rosemary. Turn heat down to medium and cook tri tip for about 7 minutes on each side, flipping once.

How to cook tri tip steaks in cast iron skillet. Brown it on all sides. Then, preheat the skillet at a medium to high temperature, preferably for around 1 minute or so. Heat the skillet until it's sizzling hot.
